Separators

Separators are small plastic rings or metal springs that are used to separate two teeth. This allows us to accurately fit bands at the next appointment. Separators are usually applied one to two weeks before braces or appliances are placed. After spacers, braces or other appliances can be applied.

Instructions: Do not eat anything sticky and do not floss between the teeth while separators are in place.

Concerns: Separators may cause temporary soreness. You may take Tylenol or Advil for the pain.
